Dress
Travel light when you're sightseeing. Bring along only essential documents plus a little money in a pouch and keep your other valuables in the hotel safe. Be sure to keep an eye on your possessions at all times.
Dos and don'ts
Malaysia is a rich mix of diverse cultures and peoples of different ethnic origins, but predominantly Malay Muslims. As in most Asian cultures, exploring the various local customs and traditions are fun, but do remember to be respectful and dress conservatively.
Health
Tap water is generally not recommended for drinking. Bring along bottled water wherever you go to keep yourself hydrated.
